Photographing swallows.

When you want to photograph swallows you notice very fast that they are not easy. These kind of bird (small, fast, unpredictable) will take a lot of time before you get a decent shot.

So what does it make easier to get a shot?

  • Firstly get the biggest lens you can get your hands on and a crop sensor camera. I personally use a nikon d7200 and a sigma 150-600mm contemporary.

  • Then use a monopod or a tripod. the weight of the lens will limit your tracking ability. This will make you less tired and you need all the energy you have. It are long sessions before you get the shot.
  • Hide out. for these small bird to come close you need to see them before they see you.
hope these tips are useful for you and share your results with me i am curious how they work for you.
